With over ten years of guiding experience for some of New Zealand’s most prestigious and renowned hunting outfitters, we decided it was time to begin putting that experience and knowledge to use in offering a more personalised professional hunting operation.
2017 marks the beginning of many seasons for Southern Lakes Safaris.
We both have a long history of hunting and having active employment in many aspects of New Zealand’s outdoor environment. This has given us a great depth of knowledge of not just our big game animals, but also the many small game, fishing and sightseeing opportunities we are blessed with having on our doorstep.
We also have our own remote private bush cabin on the West Coast, home to the real "untouched" New Zealand, and we are only too happy show you our piece of paradise we have for our own families. Here you will find adventure with the endless hunting and fishing opportunities. This is often the base for our Chamois hunts but it's far from being just about the hunting. We will show you how to live off the land with the abundant seafood and red meat. This is an experience with all the comforts of home yet is set is the most pristine rain forest New Zealand has to offer.

We have decided to base our operation in Wanaka because of the stunning scenery and boundless hunting opportunities in all directions. Wanaka is quickly becoming one of the world’s most sought-after holiday destinations, and is a mere 30 minutes’ drive from the Queenstown airport.
Although a smaller township with a population of 7000 people, it has a range of fine dining and shopping opportunities which makes it very appealing for the non-hunting members of any group.
